Green Party Kits

I received this note from a parent in the San Diego Unified district last week:

"Hi Tricia,
I just wanted to thank you for including my son's school in your promotion of the green party kits. We used the plates today for our Valentine party and all the moms were really impressed with your idea. The kids had fun too because they felt they were using "fancy" plates instead of paper. Once their teacher explained that we can reuse them and that they were made from recycled products they were excited. Anyway, I thought I'd let you know that you designed a useful, durable product."

In November, a film team from National Geographic Digital Media came to the campus of Julian Elementary to make a short video about the Green Party Kit project. At some point, it will be posted on their website. Pictured here is the film crew and producer, the student leaders that have worked on the project with me, and my good friend who helped all day with the filming.

Yesterday I gave a short presentation about Green Party Kits at the California Womens' Club State Board Meeting at the MIssion Inn, Riverside! Thanks to Edie Seger for the invitation to sell kits and speak to an enthusiastic group of women leaders.

I just received this feedback from a Mom from Mt. Woodsen Elementary, Ramona, CA: "I used my Green Party Kit for the first time a few days ago at our class's winter celebration. It worked wonderfully! Loved having that size of plate and it was sturdy enough to hold the two (relatively large & heavy) frosted sugar cookies the kids were decorating. After the party the kids gathered the items and I dropped them in a bag and I washed them right up (in the dishwasher). It felt great to not have to fill up the teacher's trash can that day and it was really easy to unpack and repack the carrying tote. Thanks!! "

The party kits in use at our Christmas family-style feast in the fourth grade. Moms serve the kids courses, in a restaurant-style holiday table. It was a busy day, so I took the kit home to wash and will return when school resumes in January.
